Our PM has told CNN in the United States that he must be a "global citizen" at Copenhagen, and think of the interests of countries other than Australia. Talking to CNN on Friday he said "We are capable of walking and chewing gum here; attending to the local, doing what we're paid to do but being effective, I hope; and constructive global and regional citizens." The article also states that Rudd "remains committed to forging a global consensus on climate change" and says that Rudd is a "Global Statesman". The statements follow Yvo de Boer, United Nations FCCC executive secretary, saying countries should not be pushing "national interests" at Copenhagen. |
