4BC's Michael Smith establishes media benchmark

4BC's drive-time radio presenter, Michael Smith has set a benchmark in how political interviews ought to be conducted, namely, with complete and utter contempt for the politician.

Last Thursday Smith interviewed Julia Gillard on her asylum-seeker policy.  He respecfully asked her a simple question and when she returned with Orwellian babble, he asked the same question again in a rightfully condescending tone, as if talking to a child. Eventually Ms Gillard ran dry of her pre-prepared, proforma responses and had a mini meltdown, like a robot that cannot compute its inputs. Take a listen...
