History and Purpose
Liberty Australia is an organization formed in early 2008 to further the cause of freedom. The idea was conceived as a result of the inspiration garnered from the presidential campaign of United States Congressman Dr. Ron Paul.
Frustrated by the lack of substance in the mainstream media and so-called ‘free market’ think tanks, we have created a framework capable of undercutting the mainstream, getting the right information out there and harnessing grassroots activism. Our goal is a free and prosperous Australia.
Liberty Australia is in the process of becoming a company limited by guarantee. Our plan is to sponsor teaching programs and professional meetings, publish journals and books, make available audio and video, and otherwise provide a range of services to uphold the tradition of liberty. We are not a “think tank” in the conventional sense because we serve no political party, offer no revolving door for public officials, nor seek to embroil ourselves in the pseudo-sciences of social and economic “management”.
Rather, Liberty Australia seeks to back research in defense of the market economy, private property, sound money, and peaceful international relations, while opposing government intervention as economically and socially destructive.
